State of the British Coast Study

Professor Robin McInnes is seeking the LGA Coastal SIG consultation on the changing face of the whole of the British coastline since the 1770s.

The study takes forward the recommendations of the Crown Estate reports Prof. McInnes wrote for England, Wales and Scotland. Assessing physical coastal change as well as its long-term effects on the natural environment and impacts on cultural heritage, this study will be of interest to a wide range of organisations involved in coastal planning and coastal land management, nature and earth science conservation, heritage, culture and the arts.

This State of the British Coast Study is taking advantage of a wealth of historical images of the coast that are becoming increasingly available online.

The project commences in June. The brief for the project is available here.
