Following the tragic deaths of 7 people at Camber Sands this summer, the LGA is doing some work around the need for a national campaign on water safety.
As part of this initiative the LGA is asking members of the Coastal SIG for their views on the following issues:
1) Do you have safety issues arising from visitors to beaches who are unaware of
a) local conditions
b) basic water safety (eg don’t get cut off by the tide)?
2) How are you tackling this – can you send us examples of changes you have made recently to improve safety/information or to target it?
3) Do you have any views on the need for a national campaign and what it might contain/focus on?
Please reply to Charles Loft, Senior Adviser at the Local Government Association, Charles.firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline for comments has been extended to the end of October.
