News Item: Studland to Portland reef to get special protection

Last week Natural Environment Minister Richard Benyon announced that 330 square kilometres of marine habitat located at Studland to Portland will be given greater protection and has been submitted by the Government to the European Commission to become a Special Area of Conservation (SAC).

When designated it will complete England’s network of coastal SACs and will mean its reefs will be protected from damaging human activities and its rare features conserved.
